Devotees and members of the saint community on Monday intensified their demand to reopen the renowned religious site, Kailash Cave Temple, by submitting a reminder memorandum to the Collector. The temple has remained closed since the COVID period, leading to growing anger and disappointment among the devotees.
According to the memorandum, the Shiva temple at Kailash Cave was built as a major center of faith with the inspiration of revered Gahira Guru and the support of devotees and the saint community. Despite this, the temple has allegedly been kept closed by committee अध्यक्ष Babhruvahan Singh.
Devotees stated that a memorandum was earlier submitted on October 5, 2025, demanding the reopening of the temple. At that time, Khirendra Singh, Secretary of the Sanatan Sant Samaj, had assured that the temple would be opened within 45 days. However, even after three months, no action was taken.
Later, during a general meeting held on December 31, 2025, in village Chundapath, committee अध्यक्ष Babhruvahan Singh and representative Nandgopal Yadav (Pakritoli) made a written commitment to reopen the temple by January 14, 2026 (Makar Sankranti). This promise also remained unfulfilled.
The memorandum further mentions allegations of misbehavior with devotees who had approached for the reopening. It also cites an incident on September 21, 2025, where 81-year-old Siyaram Yadav was allegedly assaulted by Raju Singh, the son of the committee अध्यक्ष, creating fear and anger within the community.
Notably, considering the seriousness of the issue, Collector Rohit Vyas had visited Kailash Cave to facilitate the reopening, but the temple remains locked as the committee अध्यक्ष has not opened it yet.
Devotees have also alleged that no proper committee has been formally constituted for the temple’s management. A major public protest was also organized by the saint community on February 5, 2026, but the situation remains unchanged.
Through the reminder memorandum, devotees have urged the administration to intervene immediately, ensure the reopening of the temple, and form a new committee for proper management to maintain religious harmony and social unity in the region.
Copies of the memorandum have also been sent to the Chief Minister, the Minister of Culture and Tourism, Lok Sabha MP Radheshyam Rathia, MP Chintamani Maharaj, Jashpur MLA, Commissioner of Sarguja Division, Collector Sarguja, and Superintendent of Police Jashpur, requesting necessary action.
Meanwhile, despite the temple being closed, devotees are forced to offer water from outside. They have warned that if the temple is not reopened soon, they will escalate the protest through a foot march, extending the movement from district level to division and state level.
