Jashpur : The fourth season of the Night Ganjhiyadih Premier League (GPL) concluded successfully on May 7 amid great enthusiasm and excitement. The tournament, which began on April 23, witnessed participation from 48 cricket teams from Chhattisgarh and Odisha, creating a festive sporting atmosphere throughout the region.
The closing ceremony was attended by Deputy Sarpanch of Ganjhiyadih and senior BJP leader Kiran Singh as the chief guest. Special guests included Mukteshwar Sai, BJP Mandal President Pandripani, Shivkumar Sai, Mandi In-charge and District Vice President of ST Morcha, Pankaj Gupta, regional BDC Anjana Ekka, and Pukesh Sai. The event was presided over by Sarpanch Hemlata Sai, while GPL Committee President Shiv Prasad Gupta was also prominently present.
The final match was played between Siarpara and Baradwar Basti. After winning the toss, Siarpara elected to bowl first. Batting first, Baradwar Basti posted a competitive total of 84 runs, thanks to an impressive opening partnership by Sanjay and Manjeet.
Chasing the target, Siarpara displayed aggressive batting. Sandy and middle-order batsman Chhavi Banjara played crucial knocks for the team. Chhavi Banjara turned the game around with a blistering 48 runs off just 17 balls, smashing several boundaries and sixes to guide Siarpara to a comfortable victory and the championship title.
Addressing the gathering, the guests highlighted the importance of sports in promoting unity, discipline, teamwork, and the physical and mental development of youth.
A large number of cricket lovers, women, youth, and children from nearby villages gathered to witness the night tournament, making the event a grand success. The fourth edition of GPL ended with celebration, excitement, and sporting spirit.
